It's blatant that fashion is a subjective concept, the entire point of it is to express one's sense of style and individuality. At least that's what most aim for. Personally, I tend to regard fashion as a social experiment. What will people say about these shoes? How will my fourth period class feel about this shirt? Why do I feel a sense of oncoming doom should I choose to wear that skirt? And I'm absolutely certain I'm not the only one with these self-conscious yet completely valid thoughts and worries. While many do deal with these troubles, just as many shy away from their own personal creativity because of these worries. To do what you want to do is brave, to wear what you want to wear is admirable, to say what you want to say is coveted. This blog is aimmed to greater expanding my comfort zone and document my attempts at doing so.
My name is Miranda. I'm currently sixteen years old and I live in California. I dye my hair often, I've got the split ends to prove it, I'm slowly turning my entire closet into one big thrift store find. I absolutely hate letting people borrow my clothes, but I will if you ask, I guess. I'll buy anything for a dollar. Seriously. Anything. I'm a firm believer that brown and black look awesome together. Movies are an obsession of mine, next to fashion, the majority of the music on my iPod has been derived from movies or are movie scores so there will be a plethora of movie references and quotes here. I enjoy 90's soaps and sitcoms such as Dawson's Creek, Roswell, and Friends. I am so in love with Friends that I own all seasons, all "Best of Friends" DVDs as well as a replica of the Aux Buttes Chaumont picture in Monica's apartment. I do love to read, but I enjoy informational books more than anything such as Outside Readings in Sociology, Rebel Without A Cause, Helter Skelter, and other books pertaining to serial killings and criminal psychology.
My style is nothing terribly new, but it is mine in it's own way. I give my outfits names or genres such as hobo chic, skid row bum style, crack whore chic, trash digger fierce, it's a laughable way to poke fun at my sense of style and my friends generally go along with it. This is my blog, so I'll post what I want, although the majority of that will be fashion, sometimes it will be movies or television or ramblings such as this. This is for me, but I wouldn't mind you listening in or even adding something of your own. Odds are I already love you. Awkward. Okay. That's all for a cliche, slightly uncomfortable first post!
